What to Expect During Your Consultation Appointment

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation with Dr. Akin explaining your diagnosis and treatment options.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

Please ensure you have the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Referral Slip and X-Rays
  • Current Medication List
  • Medical and Dental Insurance Cards
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves, artificial joints, heart murmurs) or are on any medications that could alter your ability to heal or clot (i.e. Coumadin, Prednisone).

How to Obtain Your X-Rays & Why They Are Important

If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays you may bring them with you printed, on a disc, or have them sent directly to our office. Often, additional Panoramic x-rays or CBCT images are necessary as they are the standard of care in Dr. Akin's office. These images aid in diagnosis, treatment planning, and informed consent discussions.

Wisdom Teeth Consultation Discount Opportunity - If you are able to provide Panoramic x-rays that have been taken within 6 months of your consultation appointment we will not charge for any additional scans we do in office during your exam.

Dental implants can be life-changing for many patients. They provide a strong, long-lasting foundation for a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth—helping patients in the Baton Rouge area restore their smile with confidence.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to emerge in the mouth. When they come in properly and there is enough space to keep the gums healthy, removal may not be necessary. An oral surgeon can evaluate wisdom teeth to determine the best course of care for patients.
