The CO2 laser is a true surgical laser which cuts as quickly as a scalpel, but with minimal bleeding or pain.

Laser surgery is an extremely effective surgical laser which provides patients with much greater comfort than electrocautery or scalpels. It allows for virtually cell by cell removal of tissue. This minimally invasive technique allows for minimal surgery, recovery, and bleeding. This often eliminates the need for suturing.

Typical recovery time for a tongue biopsy or lingual frenectomy using a scalpel can be between 7-14 days and will typically require prescription pain medication. Patients that have surgery performed by this laser will recover in 1-2 days and will not require prescription pain medication.

Used for the following soft tissue (surgical) procedures:

  • Frenectomy
  • Lesion Removal
  • Tongue Biopsy
  • Floor of Mouth Biopsy
  • Crown Lengthening
  • Palatal Connective Tissue Grafting
  • Orthodontic tooth ligation
  • Implant uncovery

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is often performed by an oral surgeon at the time of tooth removal to help preserve the jawbone and protect the empty socket. This socket preservation procedure reduces bone loss and prepares the area for future dental implant placement for patients.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to emerge in the mouth. When they come in properly and there is enough space to keep the gums healthy, removal may not be necessary. An oral surgeon can evaluate wisdom teeth to determine the best course of care for patients.
